Has your windshield suffered damage from a rock or other road debris? Small stone chips and cracks are common damage that can be fixed with a windshield repair rather than a more costly replacement. In fact, about 80% of all damaged windshields can be repaired without having to replace the entire glass! With facts like that, windshield repairs might just be the auto glass industry’s best kept secret. What’s more is that many insurance companies will waive your deductible for windshield repairs – meaning you’ll pay nothing out of pocket!

Facts About Windshield Repairs

While windshield repairs are a great tool to help restore clarity to a windshield and keep the price of fixing the windshield down, there are a lot of misconceptions about the procedure and what consumers can expect from them. At K&K Glass, we’d like to set the record straight:

  1. Windshield Repairs will not make the damage to a windshield disappear completely. The repair process is meant to reduce the visibility of the damage and keep the damage from spreading, but it’s simply not true to say that a windshield repair will completely erase the damage.
  2. Windshield Repairs will not fix all damage. In general, a windshield repair can only be used to repair damage that’s roughly the size of a quarter. Any repair that’s larger than that is typically against AGRSS safety standards and requires the windshield to be replaced.
  3. If you’ve had your windshield repaired and the repair fails, it doesn’t necessarily mean the shop did a poor job. Now we’re not just saying this to save face, but the truth is that not all windshield repairs work. If the damage is left untreated allowing debris to collect, the damage may reappear even after it has been repaired. If this happens to you after we’ve repaired your windshield, we’ll gladly credit the cost of the repair towards a windshield replacement.
